Wholesale Power Market Coverage
ESAI’s Capacity Watch™ report is counted on by wholesale power market participants as the forward curve to inform your investment, development and power market trading decisions. Capacity Watch™ is also available for ISO-NE, MISO, NYISO and PJM.
ESAI’s Emissions Watch™ provides regular updates and analysis on major federal, state and regional environmental regulations (e.g., CSAPR, RGGI, state CO2 standards). ESAI regularly evaluates potential implications of these regulations on the future generation mix. We provide an outlook on allowance prices of tradeable allowances, including RGGI and CSAPR. Issuance of updates is driven by industry and regulatory developments.
ESAI Power’s Energy Watch™ report includes reviews of market conditions, granular forecasts of pool-wide and zonal energy pricing, fuel input forecasts, policy changes, and how these will impact energy prices and generator spark spreads in the future. Energy Watch™ is also available for each of these ISO/RTO regions: ISO-NE, NYISO and PJM.
Generation Asset Monitor is a database that evaluates the outlook for the construction of generation projects in the ISO-NE, MISO, NYISO, and PJM Interconnection Queues. Each project is assigned a “probability of completion factor in % terms” depending upon the project’s financing and permitting status. The probability of completion is then applied to develop a forward assessment of likely capacity additions in each pool. The GAM also tracks power plants that have announced a retirement date, or plants that ESAI deems at-risk of retirement. Generation Asset Monitor is available for each of these ISO/RTO regions: ISO-NE, MISO, NYISO and PJM.
ESAI Power’s forecasts are based on fundamentals. We keep a close eye on forward curves and transactional activity and are always prepared to explain why our fundamental view may be different from forward curve quotes or specific transactional activity in the capacity markets, for example. Our Long-Term Market Forecasts are differentiated from other forecasting services in the power markets because of our four key strengths. Visit our Long-Term Forecasts page to learn more.
Our Offshore Wind Monitor™ provides a comprehensive view of contracted offshore wind projects in PJM, New England, and New York. We track key development milestones—including state PPAs, interconnection status, and federal permitting—as well as external risks that may affect project viability. Each project is evaluated with a probability of completion and an expected online date, shaping ESAI’s offshore wind outlook within our broader market modeling. The database is updated quarterly and delivers clear, data-driven insights for developers, investors, and policymakers.
ESAI Power’s renewable energy coverage includes solar, wind, hydroelectric, and battery storage, which is delivered in our Renewables Watch™ report. We outline regulatory and market factors that impact the supply and demand balance for Class I RECs and project the supply & demand balance forecast for the next decade. Renewables Watch coverage includes ISO-NE, NYISO and PJM.
ESAI Power delivers Transmission Watch™, which reports on transmission proceedings before FERC and state PUCs, with a specific focus on FERC Order 1000, competitive transmission development, public policy on transmission, and expansion required to meet renewable and clean energy goals. Transmission Watch coverage includes ISO-NE, NYISO and PJM.
